Outdoor Recreation Ordinances

policy checkOne of the most important steps a community can take to protect and improve its residents’ health is to create more smoke-free or tobacco-free spaces. Tobacco Free for a Healthy NJ (TFHNJ) provides technical assistance to municipalities looking to decrease exposure to secondhand smoke by adopting Outdoor Smoke Free Recreation Ordinances. We also provide signage once an ordinance is passed, so that officials can make sure residents and visitors are aware of the new limitations on smoking and make it easier to enforce.
