DEFINITION OF COALITION: For this database, we are using the following definition of a coalition: a group of organizations whose members commit to an agreed upon purpose and shared decision-making to influence an external institution or target, while each member organization maintains its own autonomy. [Source: Mitzrahi and Rosenthal (2001)]

In our sphere of community health, the ‘agreed purpose’ is to improve conditions and outcomes related to the health and well-being of entire communities.
